Oobleck

Hadley and I thought this was so awesome that I thought it deserved it's own post.
This is one of the best Pinterest ideas I have found and we were both fascinated by it.

You will need:
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup of water
food coloring (optional)

Mix cornstarch and water together and then add in food coloring if you wish. It will look like this.

This stuff feels really awesome. It's hard to tell if it's a liquid or solid. Best of all, it's super easy to clean up. All you need is a little water. I would recommend throwing the leftover in the trash. Hope somebody else has fun with this!

Family has come and gone

Boo! I hate when family comes to visit and then has to leave again. We had so much fun in the little time that we had. We went shopping, ate yummy food, and threw in a little fun for Hadley.

Hadley was sick and pretty cranky the whole time, but at least you couldn't tell it from the pictures.

We checked out this place called Monkey Joe's, which is a place with inflatables and bounce houses, and it was a huge hit! I think it's one of the best $5 we could spend! I will definitely be taking her back. What a great place to go when it's so cold out. I highly recommend it.

Until next time!

Update to 28 months post

Hadley's test results came back that she has a low level allergy to peanuts. Just as I suspected. But, it is good to finally know for sure and have that epi pen just in case we need it. While there I learned that she is 25 pounds and 35 inches tall. It turns out she is growing! I was glad to hear that.

My mom and step-dad are visiting tomorrow! I'm excited! It's so nice to have family come to me for once. Hopefully we will have a lot of fun the 4 days they are going to be here and I will have some new pictures to share. I have slacked majorly on Instagram pictures this month. Life just hasn't been too exciting lately. I have been very frustrated with Hadley's attitude and how rotten she has gotten. She is constantly asking to watch "Mouse" and telling us "no." She has become very unruly and I'm trying to get her under control the best I can. These 2's really are terrible. Wish us luck, for she is stubborn.

28 months

That's how long Hadley has been in our lives. Can you believe it? It feels weird saying 28 months, so I am only stating that here. When asked I say she is 2. Who has time to count?

A little rambling...

Tomorrow I will have Hadley tested for her peanut allergy. Finally. It is supposed to be a simple blood test and I hope it's not too bad. She has been a pistol here lately. Typical 2-year-old I think. I am excited about her being weighed though. I haven't known her weight or height in awhile.

My mom and step-dad are visiting in a week!! Yay! Hopefully we can find something fun to get into for the short amount of time they will be here. I want to take Hadley to this bounce place here in Fayetteville. I'm sure she would love that. I am trying to take her out as much as I can when Adam is able to leave the car with us. We missed story time yesterday though. :(

Hadley doesn't really nap anymore. Well, that is unless Adam is home. I don't understand at all. I have to put Hadley asleep tonight because Adam has to work late and I'm nervous about it because she is so weird with sleep for me. Crossing my fingers.

I really need to tackle potty training. Hadley wants nothing to do with it though. She is fine with running around naked or in panties, but she doesn't want to pee on the potty. Maybe I should wait a little longer until we are almost out of diapers? I don't know. I wish someone would do this one parenting duty for me. Ha!

Growing up

Hadley, my precious little girl, I can't get you to stop growing up! I have been so sappy lately because you are just so amazing and I love you more and more everyday. Although I wish you would slow down and stop growing so much because mommy is getting sad. Baby fever has kicked in to high gear, but there is nothing going to done about that for awhile :(

Anyway, today I took Hadley to the library for Duplo play time and I had a lot of mixed emotions about it. Yesterday was the very first time I have taken her to the public library and she loved it. She didn't really care about me reading the books, but she sure did have fun taking them out and bringing to the table. Since that was such a hit I decided I would bring her back today for the Duplo event with 2-5 year olds. You can really tell that Hadley hasn't been around kids much. The way she looks at other kids and that look in her face of confusion is what makes me sad. She doesn't know what to do and doesn't really know what playing together is. I know this is partially my fault, but it's really hard to get out and socialize your child when you're a one car household. Since moving to Fort Bragg Adam has been able to carpool occasionally and let me have the car to get out and do stuff. It's amazing. Some days we take little trips to Target and get treats from Starbucks. Adam got me a gift card for $100 for Starbucks, so I make sure I stop by there frequently. I have treated Hadley to apple juice twice and it's the only two times she has had it in her life. She loves it. But, we should have another car soon and I hope to enroll Hadley in some sort of activity. Maybe tumbling. I just don't think it's wise to keep her sheltered any longer. I really don't want her to be that weird kid and I guess eventually I will have to send her to school. Another thing I really don't want to do. And don't even get me started of the thought of working. I really want to, but I really don't know if I can put Hadley in daycare. I really need guidance in that direction.

Edited to add picture from play time.

Hadley's playroom

I thought I would write a detailed post of Hadley's playroom and her favorite things since projects for her are consuming my life right now.

We have always wanted a playroom for Hadley and we finally have one. Although, I'm not sure how that's going to work out when we have family over. We haven't figured that out yet.

Here is a picture of her easel, pony, shopping cart, and her dresser. Not that it really matters, but I thought I should add that we don't use this tv in here for her. I would rather her play in here than come in here and get entranced by the tv.

And this is the corner that has EVERYTHING. If I had it my way we wouldn't have half these toys, but it was just Christmas. I packed away all her old toys in a 45 gallon tote and put them away. Here is her Minnie  dollhouse, Minnie teapot, play food, B drum set, blocks, puzzles, dancing Minnie, train set, and her B piano is in the living room.

She really doesn't spend all that much time in her playroom, actually. I am big on crafts instead of toys, so I encourage creative play more than sticking her with toys, but this her collection for right now. Oh, and she also has a big play kitchen that is at Nana's right now because we couldn't fit it in the car. It will make it's appearance soon.

What isn't pictured is her table and chairs that Nana bought for her. I chose the Latt table and chairs from Ikea and this is what it looks like.

Not bad for $20, right? Well, I decided I was going to hack it and make it a little different. I decided to stain it and I really wish I hadn't.

I have slaved over this thing for the past 3 days in the cold garage and it isn't anywhere close to being as dark as her furniture. A part of me wants to give up and spray paint it, but I have worked so hard. I don't know what I will do. Maybe I should have left it alone?
